The Vice President of Business Operations serves as a key member of MAC’s executive leadership team, responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic planning, and cross-functional alignment across all business units. This role provides executive oversight of day-to-day business operations, ensuring that MAC’s operational infrastructure, processes, vendor relationships, and performance metrics support the Company’s mission as a premier Part 121/135 cargo carrier operating under the Air T, Inc. family of companies.
The VP of Business Operations partners directly with the President/CEO and functional leaders across Flight Operations, Maintenance, Human Resources, Finance, and Quality/Safety to align operational strategy with business objectives, customer commitments, and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Operations Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of MAC’s operational strategy in alignment with Air T, Inc. enterprise goals and customer contractual requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational functions, identifying and eliminating inefficiencies while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a primary liaison between MAC leadership coordinating cross-company initiatives and resource sharing across affiliated entities including CSA Air, Worldwide Aircraft Services, and Royal Aircraft Service.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across operational departments, presenting results to executive leadership and the Board as needed.
Business Planning & Financial Oversight
- Partner with Finance to develop, manage, and monitor the annual operating budget, ensuring cost control and financial discipline across all business functions.
- Analyze operational data, cost structures, and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and margin improvement.
- Support the development and negotiation of customer contracts, vendor agreements, and strategic partnerships, including ground handler, fuel, and maintenance service provider relationships.
- Oversee capital planning for facilities, ground equipment, and operational technology investments.
Customer & Contract Management
- Serve as an executive point of contact for MAC’s primary customer relationships, ensuring service level agreements are met and customer commitments are fulfilled.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to customer service delivery, coordinating cross-functionally to resolve issues with urgency and professionalism.
- Lead the operational response to customer audits, performance reviews, and contract renewals.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Provide executive direction and support to functional department heads across Operations, Maintenance, Ground Operations, Dispatch, and Facilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational discipline across all business units.
- Lead or facilitate senior leadership team meetings, operational reviews, and planning sessions.
- Support Human Resources in workforce planning, organizational design, and leadership development initiatives aligned with operational growth.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure all business operations are conducted in full compliance with applicable FAA, DOT, TSA, and OSHA regulations.
- Partner with the Director of Safety and Quality to integrate safety culture into operational decision-making and performance management.
- Support MAC’s drug and alcohol testing program compliance as needed in coordination with the Designated Employer Representative (DER).
Technology & Process Improvement
- Champion the adoption of operational technologies, data systems, and automation tools that improve efficiency, compliance, and decision-making.
- Oversee vendor relationships with key technology and service providers, ensuring contracts deliver value and performance.
- Lead or sponsor process improvement projects using data-driven methodologies (EOS/Traction, Lean, or similar frameworks).
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in aviation operations, cargo, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or multi-entity operations at a senior leadership level.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, P&L oversight, and business case development.
- Deep knowledge of FAA Part 121 and/or Part 135 operating regulations and the regulatory environment governing commercial air cargo operations.
- Proven ability to build and sustain high-performing teams and lead organizational change.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Aviation Management.
- Experience operating within an EOS/Traction business framework.
- Familiarity with ADP workforce management and payroll systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position is based at MAC’s headquarters in Denver, NC. Regular travel to line stations, maintenance facilities, and customer locations is required. The role involves extended periods of office work as well as occasional visits to aircraft ramp and maintenance environments. A valid driver’s license is required.
